The Sunyani Municipal Manager of the National Health Insurance (NHIA), Maxwell Mahama, has threatened to get the contract of their service providers terminated if they do not desist from extorting money from clients. He reminded the facilities that charging unapproved fees for services rendered is a criminal offence that can lead to imprisonment or termination of the contract. Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Education Committee, Dr Clement Apaak has asked the Ministry of Education to investigate irregularities, leakages of examination papers and related malpractices regarding the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) from 2010 till date. His call comes on the back of a research by Education Think Tank, Africa Education Watch which showed that there were widespread irregularities and leakages of examination papers. A 32-year-old man has been stabbed to death by his friend following a quarrel between the two at a funeral in Akyem-Nkwanta, a suburb of Akyem-Oda in the Eastern region.
