The Bono Regional Chairman for the Ghana Private Roads Transport Union Felix Ansu- Gyeabour has called on government to play its part in the attempt to reduce accidents by providing enough road signs.
This according to him is core as drivers of commercial and private vehicles play their role in reducing carnages on roads.
He was speaking during the launch of a campaign by the the Bono, Bono East and Ahafo regional Road Safety Authority on December 14, 2021 at Berekum.
He said, though provisions have been made for some road signs, however, they are inadequate as some drivers blame accident on same.
Mr. Felix Ansu- Gyeabour added with regret, the operation of tricycles as commercial vehicles.
He said, though the country’s laws frown on their operation, law enforcing agencies are adamant in arresting offenders, alleging, those cycles do not have registration numbers on thus making it difficult to trace their whereabouts in case of accident.
Mr. Felix Ansu-Gyeabour also noted with concern causal agent of accident blaming majority on human error.
He added, maintenance of vehicle must remain priority to vehicle users.
The regional chairman further admonished car owners not to force their drivers to work when they are in the known of faults as it may lead to accident and loss of lives.
