Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, possesses leadership qualities comparable to those of President John Dramani Mahama, according to former NPP Communications Director, Yaw Buaben Asamoa Karbo.
Speaking in a media interview, Karbo noted that despite belonging to different political traditions, both leaders demonstrate similar attributes in governance, particularly in decision-making, inclusiveness, and their approach to national development.
He explained that Dr. Bawumia, like President Mahama, exhibits calm leadership, openness to diverse opinions, and a strong grasp of policy issues, qualities he believes are essential for effective national leadership.
“Leadership is not only about party affiliation but about temperament, vision, and the ability to bring people together. In that sense, Dr. Bawumia shares certain leadership traits with President Mahama,” Karbo stated.
Karbo further acknowledged that President Mahama’s experience in governance has shaped his leadership style, particularly in navigating complex national challenges, adding that such experience is a benchmark for assessing leadership competence.
He stressed that Ghana’s democracy benefits when leaders across the political divide demonstrate maturity, respect for institutions, and a commitment to national progress.
The comments have sparked public debate, with political observers describing Karbo’s remarks as a rare moment of bipartisan reflection in Ghana’s highly polarized political landscape.
