Hon. Muntaka Mohamed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior and Minister Responsible for National Security, has underscored the importance of the newly commissioned National Signals Bureau (NSB) Bono Regional Command in boosting security across the Bono Region.
Speaking at the commissioning ceremony, the Minister noted that this facility is the third strategic NSB regional hub established under the leadership of President John Dramani Mahama, reflecting the government’s commitment to a responsive, intelligence-led security framework.
“This command brings advanced intelligence closer to the people rather than remaining a distant resource in Accra,” he said. “For farmers, traders, students, and families across the Bono Region, security services are now faster, more integrated, and more effective. Key markets, schools, roads, prisons, and government installations are covered with live monitoring capabilities.”
Hon. Muntaka emphasised that the system is intended to protect law-abiding citizens, not to spy on them. “Let me be clear: we are not here to spy on law-abiding citizens; we are here to protect them,” he stressed. At the same time, he issued a stern warning to criminals, noting that unlawful activity will be detected and stopped.
The Minister also cautioned officers assigned to the command against abusing their authority. “This is not a licence to intimidate, extort, or misuse power. Any misconduct will result in immediate removal. Development thrives only in peace, and this facility is central to securing that peace,” he added.
The commissioning of the Bono Regional NSB Command marks a key step in decentralising intelligence services, enhancing real-time surveillance, and enabling a proactive approach to tackling crime and emerging security threats in the region.
