The Ministry of Health has announced that more than 6,000 newly recruited nurses have received their salaries, representing part of the 13,500 nurses recruited across the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 3, the Ministry said all remaining administrative processes are being finalised to ensure full payment for the entire batch in the coming weeks.
The Ministry also commended the medical officers who have already reported to their duty posts and urged those yet to do so to report by Friday, December 12, 2025.
According to the Ministry, the postings are not punitive but are aimed at ensuring a fair and equitable distribution of health professionals nationwide.
“Families and relatives of the newly posted medical officers are encouraged to support them in accepting and settling into their assigned postings, especially in the underserved areas,” the statement said.
The Ministry further called on Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to provide adequate incentives, including accommodation, transport support and other essential amenities, to help attract and retain health workers in their respective districts.
It stressed that no changes will be made to the recent postings despite ongoing concerns raised by some of the posted officers.
The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s health workforce and ensuring equitable, accessible, and quality healthcare delivery across all regions.
