Former Member of Parliament for Akwatia, Mercy Adu Gyamfi—popularly known as Ama Sey—has stated that the hardships Ghanaians are currently experiencing under the John Dramani Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration stem from the decision to vote against Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2024 general elections.
According to her, the economic difficulties citizens are facing could have been avoided if the former Vice President had been elected president.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s tour of Akwatia, Ama Sey urged New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to reflect on the outcome of the 2024 elections as they prepare to select the party’s 2028 flagbearer.
“I can say that Ghanaians are waiting for us to choose him as our flagbearer. He is humble, not arrogant, and he is the one who can transform Ghana. Now, people are suffering. If we had voted for Dr. Bawumia in 2024, all these hardships wouldn’t have happened,” she said.
She appealed to delegates to vote massively for Dr. Bawumia on January 31, describing him as the most suitable candidate to restore economic stability and improve livelihoods.
Ama Sey added that Ghanaians do not simply desire change for its own sake but want a leader who is familiar, relatable, and connected to the grassroots.
