On Monday, 24th November 2025, the Member of Parliament for the Salaga-South Constituency, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, led a high-level delegation of investors to the palace of Yiram Kpembewura Banbange Ndefoso IV in Kpembe. The team was led by Mr. Alfred Mahama, elder brother of the President of the Republic of Ghana, together with a group of potential investors.
The purpose of the visit was to officially inform the Kpembewura and his subjects of their intention to invest in large-scale agricultural development—particularly irrigation farming—within his traditional jurisdiction, with special focus on the Kafaba enclave.
Mr. Alfred Mahama explained that his team chose the Salaga area because of its fertile lands, which are highly suitable for intensive farming. He further noted that the establishment of the farms would come with several interventions aimed at addressing the agricultural needs of farmers within the East Gonja Municipality. These interventions include access to tractors and machinery services, storage and processing facilities, extension services and training, as well as the provision of farm inputs. As part of the arrangement, farmers will be required to sell their produce to the investors after harvest.
In his remarks, Yiram Kpembewura warmly welcomed the investors and commended them for their interest in the development of his traditional area. He offered his blessings and encouraged the youth to take full advantage of the opportunities the project will present.
Hon. Hajia Zuwera expressed her gratitude to the Kpembewura, his chiefs, and the queen mothers for their support and approval of the initiative. She recalled how Mr. Alfred Mahama has been a father figure to her since 1981 and said she was not surprised by his decision to bring such a major investment to Salaga at a time when she serves as the MP of the constituency. She emphasized that the project is expected to create significant employment opportunities for the youth and strengthen Salaga’s position as the food basket of the Savannah Region and Ghana at large.
She added that the investors have also shown interest in supporting other sectors including education, health, and potable water provision. The MP thanked Mr. Alfred Mahama and his team for prioritizing Salaga in this major developmental initiative.
After the engagement at the Kpembewura’s palace, the delegation proceeded to Kafaba to visit Yiram Kafaba Wura Seidu Yahaya Nyenshunu and officially inform him and his people about the project. The Kafaba Wura expressed great delight at the news and offered his blessings to the investors. He confirmed that the area has vast fertile lands and pledged his full support for the project, acknowledging the tremendous development it will bring.
Hon. Zuwera again expressed gratitude to the Kafaba Wura and his community for endorsing the initiative. She disclosed that plans are far advanced for the awarding of the Salaga–Kafaba road contract and assured the chief and his people that positive news concerning the road will be announced soon.
Other members of the delegation included the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Kassim Yazid Rabiu; Constituency Executives led by Chairman Haruna Abdul Aziz; and staff from the office of the MP.
