The Constitution Review Committee (CRC) is scheduled to present its much-anticipated report to President John Dramani Mahama today, Monday, November 24, at the Presidency in Accra.
The eight-member committee, chaired by Professor H. Kwasi Prempeh, Executive Director of the Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana), was commissioned by President Mahama to lead nationwide consultations and propose amendments aimed at strengthening the 1992 Constitution.
According to the Presidency, the report will be formally submitted at 13:00 hours.
Other members of the committee include Justice Sophia Adinyira, a former Supreme Court Judge; Professor Kwame Karikari; Charlotte Osei; Dr. Godwin Djokoto; Ibrahim Tanko Amidu; Dr. Esi Ansah; and Dr. Rainer Akumperigeya.
The Committee was inaugurated on January 30 and was initially expected to complete its work by August. However, due to the extensive nature of the review process and the volume of submissions received, members requested and were granted a three-month extension.
The presentation of the report marks a significant milestone in efforts to refine the country’s constitutional framework and address emerging governance challenges.
