Health Minister and Salaga South MP Inspect Abandoned 60-Bed Euroget Hospital Project
The Member of Parliament for Salaga South, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, together with the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has paid a working visit to the abandoned 60-bed Euroget Salaga District Hospital.
Addressing the traditional elders of Salaga South, the Health Minister stated that he had earlier paid a courtesy call on the Yagbonwura before proceeding to Bole. He stressed that his visit was not merely symbolic ahead of the upcoming funeral but a demonstration of government’s commitment to resolving longstanding issues. He expressed profound appreciation to the traditional leaders for their leadership and for mobilizing a team to clear and maintain the neglected hospital premises.
Hon. Akandoh also commended the Salaga South MP, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, for her persistent advocacy regarding the hospital project. According to him, having served four terms in Parliament, he can easily identify a dedicated and hardworking MP—and the Salaga South legislator certainly fits that description.
He revealed that the hospital project, which began as far back as 2010, had all its associated components completed, making its abandonment deeply unfortunate. The minister described his visit to the site as saddening but assured the chiefs and people of the area that visible changes will soon follow. He reiterated that it is the firm policy of the President not to abandon any inherited projects, emphasizing that he has received clear instructions to ensure their completion.
Hon. Akandoh further noted that it would be irresponsible on his part if the President were to inquire about the state of the facility and he was unaware. He explained that he found it necessary to inspect the hospital personally so he could brief the President appropriately.
The Health Minister expressed gratitude for the warm reception he received, admitting that he was nearly emotional listening to the words of encouragement from the elders. He concluded by urging them to consider him as one of their own.
