Newly sworn-in Chief Justice of Ghana, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, has pledged to uphold the rule of law and safeguard the constitutional principles that underpin Ghana’s democracy.
Speaking at his swearing-in ceremony on Monday, November 17, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie reaffirmed his commitment to protecting judicial independence and ensuring the judiciary operates free from political or external interference.
He assured President John Dramani Mahama and the nation that he would faithfully discharge his duties in accordance with the Constitution.
“Mr. President, in accepting this office, I give my solemn word that I will uphold the rule of law, respect the separation of powers, and protect the Constitution. I will respect the independence of every judge and ensure that the judiciary remains free from improper influence. I will also insist on accountability,” he said.
Justice Baffoe-Bonnie now assumes full responsibility as the head of the judiciary, tasked with steering the institution toward enhanced integrity, efficiency, and public trust.
