Residents of Abesim in the Bono Region are reeling after the discovery of a buried pig and other spiritual charms at the Eternalife Church of Nations, located at Maame Serwaa Junction, a suburb of Abesim.
The charms were unearthed by masons digging a building foundation at the site of the defunct church, which was founded by Prophetess Anita Emefa, currently at large.
They unearthed the charms on Wednesday afternoon.
While the purpose of the buried items remains unclear, the discovery has raised questions about the church’s activities and the prophetess’s intentions.
Some residents who spoke to Kaakyire Kwasi Afari of Sunyani-based Ark fm expressed shock and surprise, describing the church founder as a miracle worker who claimed to possess spiritual powers and healing gifts.
However, others who had attended the church weren’t surprised, citing the prophetess’s teachings and directions to members as suspicious.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many gatherings to witness the charms.
