The National Identification Authority (NIA) has confirmed that beginning Monday, October 6, 2025, it will commence the issuance of Ghana Cards to children between the ages of 6 and 14.
The first phase of the exercise will take place in 56 districts nationwide, focusing on children who were already registered under the earlier school-based registration program. Distribution will be done at the same schools where the children were initially enrolled.
According to the NIA, children must be physically present to receive their cards and must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Parents or guardians are also required to present the registration receipt (Form A) that was issued on the day of registration.
The Authority noted that all backlogs of unprinted cards have now been cleared, paving the way for smooth issuance across the country. It further assured that the remaining districts will be covered in the coming days.
In addition, the NIA said it will soon announce timelines for new registrations for children within the 6–14 age bracket, ensuring that no eligible child is left out of the national identity system.
Parents and guardians have been urged to cooperate fully with officials to ensure a successful and hitch-free exercise.
