The Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye DC, has opened up about his recent arrest by the Ghana Police Service, which he claims was politically motivated.
Speaking on his Ohia TV show after his release from custody on September 22, 2025, Abronye recounted that the police demanded access to his mobile phones in an attempt to trace the sources of information behind his frequent allegations against the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
According to him, investigators suspected that certain government insiders were leaking sensitive information to him, hence their insistence on seizing his devices.
Abronye further revealed that during his interrogation, the police raised questions about two companies he is associated with — Asampa Country Men and Abronye Communication and Mining — and whether he had used them to secure government contracts.
He said he dismissed the line of questioning as baseless, jokingly telling the officers that if they believed the allegations, then he might as well have “used the companies to build the Jubilee House.”
The outspoken NPP regional chairman also disclosed that the police pressed him on claims that he owned 15 houses in Accra, an accusation he linked to a close ally of Kennedy Agyapong.
“I told them that if they could find those houses, I was ready to donate them to the state,” Abronye stated, insisting the allegations were mere propaganda designed to tarnish his image.
Despite the arrest, which included charges of allegedly insulting the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Abronye vowed not to be silenced.
“The NDC government cannot silence me because of my mouth,” he declared.
His remarks come amid ongoing political tension between the ruling NDC and the opposition NPP, with Abronye often at the center of controversy due to his outspoken criticism of the government.
