The Chief Coordinator of the Keep Greater Accra Clean Project, Tony Addison Dodoo, has emphasized the need for collective responsibility in tackling sanitation challenges and modernizing the capital city.
Speaking on Channel One’s Newsroom on Friday, September 12, Dodoo explained that the project seeks to involve every sector of society—citizens, market traders, and corporate bodies—in efforts to keep Accra clean and attractive.
“The Keep Greater Accra Clean Project is about ownership,” he said. “We are letting corporate bodies own their environment, we are letting market traders own their environment, and we are encouraging citizens to take responsibility for their surroundings so they can contribute to a cleaner city.”
Dodoo noted that beyond cleanliness, the initiative is designed to transform Accra into a modern, welcoming, and business-friendly capital that reflects the aspirations of both the region and the nation.
“We want to modernize the city. We want to give the regional capital a facelift by introducing measures and a developmental approach that will put our capital city on the map for tourists and investors,” he stated.
The project, he stressed, is not just about sanitation but about building a culture of environmental responsibility that can sustain long-term development.
