Former Member of Parliament for Adansi Asokwa, K.T. Hammond, has cautioned that Ghanaians will face economic and social hardship if former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not elected President in the 2028 general elections.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour of the Ashanti Region on Tuesday, September 10, Mr. Hammond expressed strong confidence in the NPP flagbearer’s capacity to lead Ghana, describing him as competent, hardworking, and the right man to continue Ghana’s development agenda.
He also dismissed criticisms targeting Dr. Bawumia over his religion, describing such arguments as baseless and divisive.
“Have you monitored Bawumia’s capabilities and hard work? It’s madness to say Bawumia is a Muslim, so he can’t be a President. We will suffer if Bawumia is not elected as President,” he said.
Mr. Hammond urged Ghanaians to judge candidates based on competence, vision, and commitment to national development rather than religious or ethnic considerations.
Dr. Bawumia is currently touring the Ashanti Region as part of his nationwide campaign to secure broad support ahead of the 2028 elections.
