Dennis Miracles Aboagye, aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has lashed out at NDC National Vice Chairman, Chief Sofo Azorka, accusing him of fuelling chaos during the Akwatia by-election.
“Yesterday’s biggest shame belongs to Sofo Azorka. Wherever he is this morning, he should bow his head in shame—ashamed of his behaviour, his attitude, and the character he has built,” Mr. Aboagye fumed on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily.
He argued that but for Azorka’s conduct, the election would have been peaceful, stressing that “violence has no place in our democracy, and no place in our elections.”
Clashes broke out on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, after Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin stormed the NDC’s party office in Akwatia, sparking heated exchanges between party supporters and the NPP entourage.
Mr. Aboagye also urged police to act decisively against election violence, warning that lax enforcement emboldens offenders.
