The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has lashed out at some Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) in the region, accusing them of complacency and inefficiency in the discharge of their duties.
Speaking at a media engagement with MMDCEs in Accra on Thursday, August 28, 2025, Madam Ocloo said the failure of certain chief executives to deliver on their mandates was undermining government efforts to address the region’s pressing developmental challenges.
“Let me go straight to say that I am disappointed at the level of inefficiency and complacency exhibited by some of our chief executives. At this stage, excuses are nothing but an embarrassment to the people we serve,” she stressed.
She reminded the MMDCEs that leadership goes beyond occupying an office or enjoying privileges, emphasizing that it is about achieving results.
“Leadership is not about sitting in offices and enjoying the perks of your position. It is about delivering results, and right now, many of you are simply sleeping on the job,” she charged.
Her comments add to growing concerns from residents and civil society groups who have been calling for improved service delivery and accountability from local government leaders in the capital.
