The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has rolled out a special temporary bonus of GHS832 per pound of gold for all licensed miners across the country, effective Wednesday, August 27, 2025.
This incentive pushes the local selling price of gold from GHS8,868 to GHS9,700 per pound, offering miners a direct boost in returns.
GoldBod explained that the move follows persistent concerns from licensed miners about declining local gold prices in recent months, largely attributed to the strengthening Ghana cedi.
The bonus scheme, according to GoldBod, is designed both to motivate licensed miners and to counter the lure of gold smuggling by ensuring miners receive competitive compensation for their sales.
“Licensed miners who have played a major role in boosting Ghana’s gold output and foreign exchange earnings should not suffer as a result of the cedi’s appreciation, which they have helped sustain,” the statement noted.
The Board assured that it has fully resourced its licensed traders nationwide to ensure swift and transparent payment of the bonus to all qualifying miners.
