At least five people have been confirmed dead and several others injured in a fatal road accident on the Kumasi–Accra highway at Asuboi, near Suhum in the Eastern Region.
The crash, which occurred earlier today, involved a Sprinter bus with registration number GW-5535-24.
According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle was traveling at top speed when one of its tyres burst, causing the driver to lose control. The bus veered off the road and crashed, leading to the instant death of five passengers.
Emergency services reportedly delayed in arriving at the scene, with rescue teams reaching the victims about 30 minutes after the accident.
The injured were later rushed to the Suhum Government Hospital for medical care.
Authorities are yet to officially confirm the number of casualties as investigations into the crash continue.
