The Student Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has announced that the window for submitting applications under the government’s “No Fees Stress” initiative will officially close on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
The fee waiver programme, targeted at first-year tertiary students, was introduced to ease the financial burden on students and promote equitable access to higher education. The SLTF says the deadline is necessary to complete the reimbursement process for the 2024/2025 academic year and pave the way for the rollout of the No Academic Fee Policy for the upcoming 2025/2026 academic year.
In a statement signed by Obeng Agyenim Boateng, Head of Corporate Communications, the Fund urged all qualified students who have not yet submitted their applications to do so promptly through the official portal: https://nofeesstress.sltf.gov.gh.
“This deadline is crucial to enable SLTF to process reimbursements in a timely manner, close applications for the current academic year, and initiate preparations for the implementation of the No Academic Fee Policy for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the statement noted.
Application Data So Far
Providing an update on the implementation of the policy, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, disclosed that a total of 175,094 students have accessed the application portal.
Out of 60,756 validated applications, 40,233 students have already been reimbursed, while 151,492 students have successfully completed the application process and are awaiting further validation.
Call to Action
The SLTF reiterated its commitment to supporting students through efficient and transparent processes and encouraged all stakeholders—particularly school administrators and student leaders—to assist in spreading the deadline announcement to ensure that no eligible student misses out.
The “No Fees Stress” programme is part of the government’s broader effort to expand access to tertiary education and improve retention, especially among students from low-income backgrounds.
