Parliament’s Appointments Committee is set to vet Supreme Court nominee, Justice Kwaku Tawiah Ackaah-Boafo, today, Friday, June 20, 2025, following the lifting of a brief suspension prompted by a petition.
The vetting process was initially put on hold after a petition was filed by Anthony Kwabenya Rau, who accused Justice Ackaah-Boafo of misconduct during a court session, alleging that the judge insulted him and referred to him as “arrogant” and “power drunk.” The nominee has strongly denied the claims.
Justice Ackaah-Boafo is the last of seven Court of Appeal justices nominated by President John Dramani Mahama for elevation to the Supreme Court. His vetting will conclude the Committee’s assessment of the full list of nominees.
Following today’s proceedings, the Appointments Committee will submit its recommendations to the full House for final approval or rejection.
