The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has taken a significant step in fulfilling President John Dramani Mahama’s “Nkoko Nkitikiti” vision by receiving an initial batch of 10,000 day-old chicks. This marks the beginning of a large-scale poultry initiative aimed at boosting local poultry production and ensuring food security.
The ongoing project, which targets a total of 100,000 broilers, will receive 10,000 chicks every few weeks at the demonstration farm in Accra. The initiative forms part of a broader national effort to expand poultry farming, with infrastructure being developed across the country to support large-scale production in clusters.
In addition to broiler production, the GNSA is also focusing on egg production. Infrastructure is being put in place to accommodate thousands of layers, aligning with President Mahama’s commitment to reducing the cost of eggs and improving affordability for Ghanaians.
The expansion of poultry farming under the “Nkoko Nkitikiti” initiative is expected to enhance local food supply, create employment opportunities, and reduce dependency on poultry imports. The GNSA, in collaboration with key stakeholders, remains committed to ensuring the success of this ambitious vision.
