The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration has engaged embassies and high commissions in Ghana following numerous complaints from the public regarding poor treatment of visa applicants.
In a press release issued on February 24, 2025, the Ministry highlighted key concerns raised by Ghanaian applicants, including a lack of conducive waiting areas, limited emergency services, prolonged appointment waiting times, and challenges with visa application websites.
To address these issues, the Ministry has dispatched a Note Verbale to all embassies and high commissions, urging them to establish humane and appropriate conditions at their visa centers. The Ministry expressed confidence that foreign missions in Ghana would respond positively to these concerns.
While acknowledging that embassies and high commissions have the right to determine visa issuance, the Ministry emphasized its commitment to ensuring that foreign missions adhere to improved standards for Ghanaian applicants.
This move reflects the government’s dedication to advocating for the rights and dignity of its citizens seeking visas for travel, study, and business abroad.
