Dr. Sharif Mahmud Khalid, a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Economic and Finance Committee, has criticized the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for what he calls a rushed commissioning of incomplete infrastructure projects. He claims this is a reaction to the NDC’s increasing popularity and positive messaging.
Speaking on *The Big Issue* on Channel One TV on Saturday, November 23, Dr. Khalid asserted that the recent wave of project inaugurations by the NPP reflects desperation to counteract the favorable response Ghanaians are giving to the NDC’s campaign.
He pointed specifically to the unveiling of the Flower Pot Interchange, describing it as incomplete and hastily presented for political gains. According to Dr. Khalid, the government neglected proper processes and safety standards, prioritizing appearances over quality in an effort to showcase achievements.
“This undermines public trust and highlights the broader governance failures of the NPP,” he remarked.
Dr. Khalid also criticized the move as reckless, pointing out incomplete drains and unsealed slabs at the interchange. He linked the situation to a lack of concern for health and safety standards, questioning the rationale behind commissioning such a project prematurely.
“The NDC’s flagbearer is effectively reaching Ghanaians with a message that resonates, addressing their real challenges. These rushed inaugurations by the NPP are clearly a reaction to the goodwill and momentum the NDC is building across the country,” he concluded.
