Dr. Serebour Quaicoe, the Director of Electoral Services at the Electoral Commission, has addressed concerns regarding the upcoming December elections, particularly about the availability of facilities for use as polling centers.
Reacting to queries about potential refusals from the Seventh Day Adventist Church (SDA) or other churches to provide their premises for polling stations, Dr. Serebour Quaicoe assured that alternative arrangements could be made.
Speaking on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on July 31, he explained that if churches decline to offer their facilities, the EC would use the premises of those churches as polling stations.
“If the polling center is supposed to be at the Peace FM building, any area around it can serve as a polling station.
“We do not conduct elections inside a church or school buildings but within their premises,” Dr. Serebour Quaicoe clarified.
He emphasized that the EC cannot extend voting hours beyond the stipulated time.
Voting will strictly end at 5pm, and individuals who arrive late will not be allowed to cast their votes.
