On Saturday, 13th July 2024, the Eusbett Hotel in Sunyani was the venue for the 12th Handing Over Ceremony of the Rotary Club of Sunyani East. The newly inducted President, Rotarian Foster Akwasi Asante, delivered a compelling inaugural speech outlining his vision and plans for the club.

The event was graced by several dignitaries, including Hon. Amb. Kwadwo Nyamekye Marfo, Regional Chairman of the NDC, Nana Akosua Asor Sika Brayie II, Omanhemaa of the Sunyani Traditional Council, and many other distinguished guests. In his speech, President Asante highlighted the significant contributions of the Rotary Club of Sunyani East over the past 11 years, emphasizing the provision of food, potable water, medical equipment, and educational infrastructure.

President Asante paid tribute to past presidents and called for collective support from members to implement his plans, which focus on Club Branding/Public Image, Member Retention/Reducing Attrition Rate, and Consolidation of Club Service Projects. He introduced a “Corporate Outreach Program” to attract new members and expressed his commitment to improving maternal and child health in the region.

The new president acknowledged the challenges facing the club, such as low membership and financial difficulties, and called for a united effort to overcome these obstacles. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration with other clubs within the district to execute impactful projects.
