The Institute of Energy Security (IES) has demanded the immediate dismissal of Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, citing the escalating energy crisis as justification.
The IES argues that the current state of the energy sector urgently requires action, leading them to advocate for the removal of the minister.
Nana Amoasi VII, the Executive Director of IES, voiced disappointment with the minister’s perceived lack of action during an interview on Eyewitness News on Monday.
He criticized the minister’s apparent detachment from the reality of the energy crisis, questioning the relevance of his role in such a critical area.
“At this juncture, with no electricity available, what purpose does the minister serve? It’s time for him to step down, perhaps to focus on other endeavors. This situation has become intolerable. Is it unreasonable to expect accountability?”
“For goodness’ sake, I am a prepaid electricity consumer. I’ve paid for the service upfront. The installation of the meter in my home was a contract, and he accepted payment in advance. If I’m not going to receive the service, the least he can do is inform me when to expect it. But to suggest that I create my own schedule is utterly disrespectful.”
