Tain is a cosmopolitant district with over 100 Communities. The people in the enclave are mainly farmers with some few public sector workers whiles others especially women have little or no work to earn them a living.
The Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Hon. Sulemana Adama (Ramzy, as preferred by the constituents), when voted into office in the 2020 General Elections began a programme which he named ‘Poverty Alleviation Programme’, it was aimed at equiping women with training in making of soaps and pastries.
The programme which began in the middle of March 2021 has ran throughout the four Zones of the Constituency namely; Nsawkaw, Badu, Seikwa and Menji/Debibi.
About 5000women have so far been trained and some have put it to practice to support their families.
Aisha is a lady from Kwame Tenten in the Menji/Debibi Zone who took part in this all important training, and has began to make good use of what she learnt for free so as to earn a living and support her family.

Speaking to Alhaji Meko (Social Media Communication Network Tain, SoMe CoNeT’s Rep at Menji), when hawking with some of the products she had produced at Menji, Aisha expressed her appreciation to the MP for his idea and highlighted on the benefits she had gained from participating in this Programme. She further appealed to the MP to support her and others who have started utilizing the knowledge gained through his Poverty Alleviation Programme to meet the purpose of the programme.
From the experience of Mad. Aisha it can’t be ruled out that the programme have helped the women to provide them with an option that will augment their subsistence farming in the upbringing of their children and providing the needed support to their husbands.
To the Hon. MP (Hon. Ramzy), we say Ayekoo!!!
But as it is always said “Oliver Twist asks for more”
