Fuel Prices Drop Again: Super Petrol Now GHC 9.97

Fuel prices at the pumps have dropped again, bringing further relief to motorists across the country as new discounted rates took effect from Friday, January 16, 2026, at 8:00am.

Under the latest adjustment, some fuel stations are now selling petrol (Super) for as low as GH¢9.97 per litre, while diesel is going for GH¢10.97 per litre. RON 95 petrol is also selling at GH¢12.54 per litre at selected outlets.

The reduction marks the second fuel price drop in January 2026, following favourable developments on the international petroleum market and the continued appreciation of the Ghana cedi against major trading currencies.

Although discounted prices are being offered at selected stations, other outlets across the country are selling at the general pump prices of GH¢10.56 per litre for petrol and GH¢11.56 per litre for diesel, depending on location and oil marketing company policy.

Industry analysts say the decline has been influenced by lower prices of finished petroleum products on the global market, coupled with improved foreign exchange conditions. The strengthening of the cedi has significantly reduced the cost of fuel imports, allowing oil marketing companies room to adjust prices downward.

The latest price drop is expected to ease transportation costs and provide some relief to households and businesses already grappling with high living expenses.

Motorists are, however, advised to compare prices across stations, as pump prices may vary depending on distribution costs and operational considerations.
