Former National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Crabbe, has criticised the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, over his response to comments made by former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
Mr. Crabbe’s remarks follow a statement by the General Secretary describing Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments as “highly reprehensible” and inconsistent with the values, integrity and unity of the NPP. The statement further indicated that the party had invoked relevant provisions of its constitution to begin processes that could lead to the former minister’s expulsion.
Prof. Frimpong-Boateng, in an interview with Bernard Avle on Channel One TV’s *Point of View* on Monday, January 12, 2026, criticised the current state of the NPP, arguing that the party no longer reflects the ideals and principles he once associated with it.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s *Citiuation Room* on Thursday, January 15, Sammy Crabbe said the language used by the General Secretary undermined the credibility of the party’s disciplinary process and appeared to validate Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s concerns about internal party justice.
According to him, the statement amounted to a pronouncement of guilt even before the matter had been subjected to proper investigation by the appropriate party structures.
“It seems to me that the letter that was issued and the interview I heard from the General Secretary actually validate what Prof. Frimpong-Boateng has been saying,” Mr. Crabbe stated.
“First of all, if he has done anything contrary to our laws, as a General Secretary you are a man of authority and you stand as the party. You do not pronounce the outcome. You do not say that you are sending the person to the National Disciplinary Committee or the NEC for him to be expelled. But that is what is in the letter. It is as if the Disciplinary Committee is being instructed to expel the gentleman,” he added.
Mr. Crabbe stressed that under the NPP’s constitution, the Disciplinary Committee is mandated to independently investigate allegations, conduct an impartial inquiry and submit a report outlining its findings and recommendations.
He argued that by appearing to reach a conclusion ahead of the committee’s work, the General Secretary had effectively weakened the party’s internal justice mechanisms.
“He has found him guilty before he has even been given the chance to go through the party’s internal justice procedures,” Mr. Crabbe concluded.
