The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has ordered a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and protect patient safety.
The directive, announced by the Ministry of Health in a Facebook post on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, instructs the Ministry’s Technical Advisor, Dr. Korku Awoonor, to set up a technical working group to evaluate the condition and performance of health facilities across the region.
The assessment will focus on structural safety, operational effectiveness, and overall productivity of the facilities.
The order was issued during a two-day management retreat of the Ministry of Health and forms part of the government’s wider strategy to strengthen oversight of health infrastructure and ensure that public health facilities comply with approved standards for safety, quality, and performance.
Beyond the regional audit, the Health Minister has also directed that 24-hour cleaning services be introduced in all public hospitals nationwide. This measure is aimed at improving hygiene, strengthening infection prevention and control, and enhancing patient comfort and satisfaction.
The ministry stated that these interventions demonstrate its commitment to elevating standards within the health sector through improved supervision, better facility management, and sustained efforts to deliver safe, high-quality healthcare services across the country.
