A founding member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe, has launched a stinging criticism of the party’s current leadership, describing the NPP as being in the “hands of looters” and daring the party to expel him if it proceeds with moves to sack former Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe’s comments come in the wake of the party’s decision to initiate expulsion proceedings against Prof. Frimpong-Boateng over remarks in which he described the NPP as “fake” and accused it of abandoning its founding principles.
Speaking on the matter, the outspoken party elder argued that Prof. Frimpong-Boateng’s comments reflect the reality within the party rather than misconduct deserving of disciplinary action.
According to him, the NPP has drifted away from its core values and is now controlled by individuals more interested in personal gain than the party’s original ideals.
Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe warned that silencing dissenting voices through disciplinary measures would further deepen divisions within the party and erode its moral authority.
He challenged the party leadership to apply the same sanctions to him if they believe that speaking truthfully about the party’s condition amounts to misconduct.
The veteran politician maintained that constructive criticism should be encouraged rather than punished, stressing that the NPP risks losing its identity and credibility if it continues on what he described as its current path.
He called on party members to reflect deeply on the state of the NPP and return to the principles of integrity, accountability, and service that defined its early years.
