Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has reiterated the government’s firm commitment to the fight against corruption, stressing that ethical leadership and accountability are essential to national development.
She made the statement while addressing the 93rd Jalsa Salana of the National Convention of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission on Wednesday, January 8, at Gomoa Pomadze in the Central Region.
According to her, a nation’s strength is anchored in moral courage and ethical consistency, urging citizens to stand for what is right, speak out against injustice, and uphold strong values in both public and private life.
Prof Opoku-Agyemang noted that the government has taken deliberate steps to improve the effectiveness and coordination of key accountability institutions, including the Office of the Attorney-General, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
She said these efforts form part of a broader moral framework guiding the administration’s actions, adding that the government’s commitment to justice and transparency remains unwavering.
The Vice President also highlighted the implementation and strengthening of a code of conduct for political appointees and public officials, urging strict adherence in the national interest.
She further emphasised that public office holders must demonstrate integrity, discipline, and accountability, and place the service of the nation above personal interests.
