A staunch supporter of New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong has issued a fiery warning over alleged attempts to manipulate the party’s upcoming presidential primaries.
Speaking in a radio interview on Kawasam on Radio XYZ, the founder and leader of Citizens Eye Ghana, Mr. Alex Kwaku Teteh, claimed that the camp of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia—allegedly led by his wife, Samira Bawumia—has held a series of meetings with officials of the Electoral Commission (EC) to rig the primaries in Dr. Bawumia’s favour.
According to Mr. Teteh, these alleged meetings are aimed at producing illegal documents that could be used to influence the outcome of the internal party elections through ballot stuffing. He did not, however, provide evidence to support the claims.
In a strongly worded statement, Mr. Teteh warned that he would resist any such actions by all means necessary, threatening to burn down any printing press found to be involved in producing what he described as “illegal documents” for electoral malpractice.
“I will burn the printing press,” he declared, stressing that no printing house should attempt to print materials intended to undermine the credibility of the primaries.
The allegations and threats have since sparked concern among political observers, who have called for calm and urged all parties to respect democratic processes and the rule of law. As of now, neither the camp of Dr. Bawumia nor the Electoral Commission has officially responded to the claims made by Mr. Teteh.
The development adds to growing tensions ahead of the NPP’s presidential primaries, with stakeholders calling for transparency, restraint, and lawful conduct from all actors involved.
