A dramatic moment unfolded at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa last Sunday when Hearts of Oak assistant coach, Gazelle, was captured on camera furiously chasing after a ball boy during their Premier League clash with Medeama.
The incident occurred late in the second half, with Hearts of Oak trailing 1–0 and pushing desperately for an equaliser. According to eyewitness accounts, the ball boy appeared to delay returning the ball for a restart, prompting an angry reaction from the Hearts technical bench.
Footage from the match showed Coach Gazelle sprinting toward the young ball attendant in frustration, sparking a brief commotion on the touchline. Match officials and security personnel quickly intervened to calm the situation.
The ball boy was later escorted away from the technical area as tensions eased.
The incident has since generated heated debate among fans and analysts, many of whom criticised the coach’s behaviour as unprofessional, regardless of the pressure of the moment. Others argued that deliberate ball delay has become a recurring problem in the Ghana Premier League and called for stricter officiating to prevent similar flare-ups.
Hearts of Oak, who have struggled to find consistency this season, failed to equalise and ultimately suffered a narrow 1–0 defeat to defending champions Medeama.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is expected to review match reports and video evidence before deciding whether to take disciplinary action.
Hearts of Oak have not yet issued an official statement on the incident, but sources indicate that internal discussions are underway to address the matter.
