NPP Flagbearer Race: Ken Agyapong Is the Most Credible and Safest Choice – Kwesi Nyantakyi

Former Ghana Football Association President and member of Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign team, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has endorsed the former Assin Central MP as the most credible and least risky contender in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer race.

Kennedy Agyapong is competing for the party’s leadership against former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, and Kwabena Agyepong.

Sharing his views on the contest, Mr. Nyantakyi argued that most of the aspirants were deeply connected to the previous NPP government, which was defeated in the 2024 general election.

“Except for him and Kwabena Agyepong, the other three were key figures in the NPP administration that lost the 2024 election. It’s easy to associate them with the government’s poor performance,” he said.

He explained that Kennedy Agyapong had limited ties to the shortcomings of the former administration, giving him an advantage in the eyes of voters.

“The connection between him and the failures of the past government is minimal or indirect. He comes across as someone with a clean slate — an independent-minded leader with relatable policies,” he said.

According to Mr. Nyantakyi, Kennedy Agyapong also enjoys strong support from a wide range of Ghanaians, including younger voters and non-NPP members.

“It’s no surprise that Gen Z, older citizens, and even people outside the NPP feel connected to Kennedy Agyapong. He stands out and has the qualities to make him electable in 2028,” he noted.

He added that Mr. Agyapong’s campaign message clearly distinguishes him from other competitors, painting him as a bold and unconventional politician.

“His message is unique. Beyond his personal appeal, he positions himself as a courageous, honest, and atypical political figure,” he said.

Mr. Nyantakyi also praised Kennedy Agyapong’s empathy and philanthropic work, saying it reflects his compassion for ordinary Ghanaians.

He further highlighted unemployment as a pressing national crisis, commending Agyapong for making job creation the central focus of his campaign.

“In Ghana today, unemployment is a major problem, and he is the only NPP aspirant whose message is strongly anchored on addressing joblessness,” Mr. Nyantakyi stated.
