Chelsea have taken an early step in the race to sign Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, as they seek to beat competition from Manchester United, Liverpool and other top clubs.
According to reports, the Blues have contacted the Ghana international’s representatives to express formal interest and begin preliminary discussions ahead of the January transfer window.
Semenyo, 25, has a £65 million release clause in a contract he signed during the summer, which becomes active for the first ten days of the upcoming window. His impressive form this season — eight goals and three assists in 16 appearances — has made him one of the Premier League’s standout attackers.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Manchester City are all monitoring the situation closely, while Tottenham Hotspur previously explored a move in the summer. Chelsea’s latest approach signals a serious intent to secure the player as competition intensifies.
The London club’s interest in Semenyo is not new, dating back to an unsuccessful attempt to sign him from Bristol City in 2019. Bournemouth, meanwhile, are said to be prepared for his possible departure, with the release clause structured to allow them time to recruit a replacement within the same transfer window.
On the international stage, Semenyo has scored three goals for Ghana since making his senior debut in 2022 and is expected to play a key role for the Black Stars at the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
