The Chief Executive of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Richard Ofori Agyemang, widely known as King Zuba, has called for the removal of Asante Kotoko head coach Karim Zito, citing dissatisfaction with the team’s progress under his tenure.
Zito took charge of the Porcupine Warriors midway through last season and led the club to FA Cup success, securing the trophy with a victory over lower-division side Golden Kicks FC.
Despite that achievement, Kotoko have struggled to find consistency in the ongoing Ghana Premier League season, managing just one win in their last five outings.
Prior to their narrow 1-0 win against Dreams FC last Sunday, the Kumasi-based side had endured a four-match winless run, recording two defeats and two draws. After 14 league games, Kotoko currently occupy third place on the table with 24 points.
In an interview with Akoma FM on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, King Zuba said he has not observed any notable improvement in the team’s performances since Zito assumed the role, and he advocated the appointment of a seasoned foreign coach.
“I haven’t seen any real progress in Asante Kotoko since Karim Zito took over. In my view, the club needs a new sense of direction, and that should come from an experienced expatriate coach,” he stated.
The mayor’s remarks have ignited debate among supporters, with fans divided over whether Kotoko should part ways with Zito or continue to support the former Dreams FC coach.
