One person has been confirmed dead following a bee attack on supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Kpandai District after a campaign event held on Sunday, December 14.
Confirming the incident to Citi News, the Kpandai Constituency Secretary of the NDC, Mr. Robert, said the attack occurred shortly after the party concluded its campaign activities.
The deceased, identified as a traditional chief from one of the communities in the district, was reportedly riding a motorbike when he was suddenly attacked by a swarm of bees.
In an attempt to escape, he reportedly dismounted and ran, but amid the panic that followed, he was assaulted and later died.
Some residents have attributed the incident to spiritual causes, describing it as a curse. However, no official confirmation has been given, and authorities are yet to comment on such claims.
Police have since launched investigations to establish the exact circumstances that led to the death.
The incident comes at a time of heightened political activity in Kpandai, ahead of the parliamentary rerun scheduled for Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
The rerun follows a High Court ruling that annulled the results of the 2024 parliamentary election, citing irregularities in the collation process.
Both the NDC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) are expected to intensify their campaigns as the rerun approaches.
