Youth groups of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Nanton Constituency have staged a street protest calling for the removal of the District Chief Executive (DCE), Abdul-Rahaman Rosina Zenabu.
Their action comes after constituency executives submitted a petition to President John Dramani Mahama, requesting the DCE’s immediate dismissal.
According to the petition, the DCE has engaged in behaviour they believe undermines party cohesion and threatens the NDC’s electoral fortunes in the constituency.
During the demonstration, the youth displayed placards with messages such as: “Enough of your husband’s control over Nanton DCE,” “Regional Minister, intervene or risk Nanton collapsing,” and “Tampion and Nyoligu are pillars of the NDC — DCE, stop disrespecting our chiefs.”
The protesters are calling on national and regional party leadership to step in urgently to resolve the matter and restore peace and unity within the constituency.
