NDC Government Lacks Funds, Not Exercising Smart Cuts — Ali Halidu Maiga Claims

Former Member of Parliament for Dormaa West, Ali Halidu Maiga Esq., has criticized the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, arguing that its recent reductions in public spending are not the result of strategic financial management but rather a lack of available funds.

According to Mr. Maiga, the government’s attempts to portray its actions as prudent fiscal discipline are misleading. He insists that the underlying issue is a deeper financial shortfall that has limited the administration’s ability to execute its plans.

“This NDC government doesn’t have money. It’s not as if they’re being smart in cutting down expenditure,” he stated, adding that the public deserves transparency regarding the true state of the nation’s finances.

The former MP suggested that the spending cuts are merely a reaction to economic constraints rather than a deliberate effort to streamline governance. He urged the government to communicate openly about the challenges it faces and to adopt more sustainable economic measures moving forward.

Mr. Maiga’s remarks add to a series of political debates surrounding Ghana’s current economic direction, with stakeholders from various sectors calling for clearer policies that promote fiscal stability, growth, and accountability.
