Parliament has formally informed the Electoral Commission (EC) of a vacant seat in the House following a High Court directive for a rerun of the Kpandai Parliamentary Election.
In a letter dated December 4, 2025, Clerk to Parliament, Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, notified EC Chairperson Jean Mensa that the vacancy stems from a Tamale High Court ruling ordering a new election for the constituency.
The judgment, delivered on November 24, 2025, formed part of a case in which the Clerk to Parliament was cited as the fourth respondent under Suit Number NR/TL/HC/E13/22/25.
Citing Article 112(5) of the 1992 Constitution, the Clerk indicated that the correspondence serves as the constitutionally required notice to enable the EC to begin preparations for the rerun.
The letter concludes by confirming that the Commission has been officially notified in accordance with legal procedures.
