The Ministry of Roads and Highways has announced a temporary traffic diversion on the N6 dual carriageway as engineers commence critical asphalt works on the Ofankor–Nsawam road.
In a public notice issued by the project team on Sunday, December 7, 2025, the main Ofankor–White House section of the N6 will be closed to motorists from Monday, December 8 to Sunday, December 14, 2025.
According to the statement, the closure is to allow contractors to lay asphalt on a 2-kilometre stretch as part of the ongoing rehabilitation of the Ofankor–Nsawam dual carriageway. The team explained that enabling works completed over the weekend made it necessary to temporarily shut down the corridor on Saturday night, with the seven-day closure marking the next phase of the project.
During this period, all vehicles will be diverted onto the Service Road from the Ofankor Overpass to White House. The public is assured that directional signs will be mounted along the route, and drivers are urged to adhere strictly to traffic instructions to avoid congestion and ensure safety.
“We appreciate your support during the closure of the road from Neoplan on December 6, 2025, and seek your cooperation as we continue,” the notice said, adding that the ministry regrets any inconvenience caused.
The Ofankor–Nsawam project remains one of the government’s major highway rehabilitation initiatives aimed at improving mobility, reducing travel time, and boosting economic activity along the busy Accra–Kumasi corridor.
