Ghana’s Peace Will Be Defended, Nation Will Remain Secure and Just – President Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has assured Ghanaians that the country will remain peaceful, stable, and just, emphasizing his administration’s commitment to safeguarding national security.

The President made the remarks while handing over 40 advanced armoured vehicles to the Ghana Police Service, highlighting the government’s efforts to strengthen internal security and protect citizens.

“Today, as we hand over these 40 advanced armoured vehicles, we are renewing our covenant with the people of Ghana: this nation will protect its citizens, defend peace, and ensure that Ghana remains secure, stable, and just,” President Mahama said at the National Police Headquarters in Accra.

He noted that these vehicles represent the first batch of new equipment, with more to come by the end of December, including two tow trucks, 10 covert operational vehicles, and specialised drone training for a dedicated police unit.

President Mahama also stressed the importance of responsible use of the new assets: “These are costly and hard-to-procure resources. They must be used judiciously, professionally, lawfully, and ethically. Always follow safety instructions and wear seat belts.”

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak echoed the President’s commitment, emphasizing the government’s resolve to build a modern, intelligent, and well-equipped internal security system. He warned that attacks on security personnel would be met with firm and decisive action and urged police officers to serve the public with professionalism, discipline, and integrity.

Inspector-General of Police, Christian Tetteh-Yohunu, expressed gratitude to the President for his dedication to retooling the Ghana Police Service and assured him of the officers’ commitment to executing their duties responsibly.
