The Kumasi High Court has issued a major ruling confirming that both Odo Broni, known legally as Priscilla Ofori Atta, and Akosua Serwaa Fosuh are legitimate wives of the late Ghanaian highlife icon Daddy Lumba.
This judgement brings an end to months of intense public and legal disputes concerning which woman is entitled to carry out the widowhood rites, manage the late musician’s estate, and officially hold the status of his widow.
With this decision, both women are permitted to partake in the widowhood rituals.
Although the full details of the judgment have not yet been released, the court noted that Akosua Serwaa failed to submit an original marriage certificate for the alleged civil marriage with the late musician. The documents presented in court were only extracts rather than an authentic certified marriage certificate.
