Former Managing Director of the Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Company (BOST), Edwin Provencal, has been released from custody after satisfying his GH¢30 million bail requirement. His release comes after more than two weeks in the custody of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).
Mr Provencal was arrested at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) on Monday, November 10, while attempting to board a flight to Maputo, Mozambique. According to authorities, he had been placed on a stop list over an ongoing investigation into an alleged case of causing financial loss to the state during his tenure at BOST. Investigators also noted that he was travelling without the necessary authorisation.
The arrest drew widespread public interest, with supporters raising concerns about his extended detention.
Speaking after his release on Tuesday, November 25, his lawyer, Charles Okyere, expressed appreciation for the support Mr Provencal received during the period.
“Finally, he has met the bail condition, so he has been allowed to go home. He is really thankful for the support,” he said.
