The Manhyia Palace has announced that the final funeral rites of the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have been rescheduled to December 13, 2025, instead of the earlier date of December 6.
The decision was made during a meeting held at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace on Monday, November 10, 2025, where a new funeral committee, chaired by the Dadiesoabahene, was constituted to oversee the preparations and ensure a smooth ceremony.
During the meeting, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, sister of the late musician, appealed for a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death, citing suspicions of foul play. She also requested that the burial and funeral be delayed until the results of the examination were released.
The Chiefs, however, directed that the matter of the postmortem be handled by the police, and subsequently confirmed December 13 as the new date for the funeral. They further urged both sides of the family to remain united and cooperate fully to ensure a befitting farewell for the music icon.
On the issue of the invocation of the Great Oath, it was revealed that Akosua Brempomaa, who performed the ritual, had been pardoned by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. She was, however, cautioned against repeating such an act in the future.
The rescheduled date sets the stage for what is expected to be a grand celebration of the life and legacy of one of Ghana’s most influential and beloved highlife musicians.
