The Member of Parliament for Salaga South and Vice Chair of Parliament’s Gender Committee, Hon. Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has launched a groundbreaking report on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) in Ghana.
The report, titled “Unequal Risk: SGBV Among Youth and Persons with Disabilities”, was formally unveiled during a webinar organized by SEND Ghana. It focuses on the rising concerns of SGBV, particularly affecting youth and persons with disabilities — groups identified as highly vulnerable within society.
Key Highlights from the Report Launch
- Extensive Research & Collaboration: The publication is the result of months of nationwide research aimed at assessing the real state of SGBV in Ghana.
- Policy Guidance: Findings are expected to shape evidence-based policies, strengthen programming, and improve response mechanisms.
- Inclusive Protection Systems: The event underscored the urgent need for stronger, inclusive laws and systems to safeguard vulnerable populations.
Hon. Hajia Zuwera used the opportunity to advocate for collective responsibility in combating SGBV and ensuring that every Ghanaian — regardless of ability, gender, or background — is protected from violence and discrimination.
She reaffirmed her commitment to championing initiatives that promote gender equality, justice, and dignity for all.
