President John Dramani Mahama has held a high-level meeting with the Chief Justice, the Attorney-General, and the Auditor-General to discuss measures aimed at strengthening the enforcement of findings contained in the Auditor-General’s Report.
The meeting, held on Monday, October 20, 2025, focused on improving accountability within public institutions and ensuring that audit infractions receive swift legal action.
A key decision reached was the designation of special courts to handle cases arising from audit breaches, including the enforcement of surcharges, disallowances, and the prosecution of related criminal offences.
According to a statement signed by Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications and Spokesperson to the President, the initiative is part of government’s broader effort to enhance transparency, deter the misuse of public funds, and ensure the prompt recovery of monies owed to the state.
President Mahama emphasized that strict enforcement of audit findings is essential to restoring public confidence in state institutions and strengthening Ghana’s governance systems.
