Ken Ofori-Atta Is Not in Hiding — Lawyer Frank Davies Dismisses Rumours

Lawyer for former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, Frank Davies, has rubbished claims that his client is on the run from authorities, insisting that the former Minister is in good health and has made himself available through legitimate legal channels.

Speaking in an interview with Joy News, Mr. Davies maintained that Ofori-Atta is “not in hiding,” contrary to widespread speculation surrounding his alleged evasion of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).

“But we all know where he is. A wanted man cannot fare well. He is good. He is sustained by the good Lord every day,” the lawyer said.

Mr. Davies further explained that his legal team has complied with all procedural requirements and continues to engage the relevant institutions in accordance with the law.

His remarks follow a recent clarification by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which denied claims that it was obstructing the Office of the Attorney-General and Ministry of Justice in the extradition process of the former Minister.

The OSP had earlier placed Ken Ofori-Atta on a wanted list and secured an Interpol Red Notice to aid in his arrest abroad, as part of ongoing corruption-related investigations.

If activated, the extradition process would allow the state to bring the former Minister back to Ghana to face criminal charges.

Ofori-Atta, who served as Finance Minister under the New Patriotic Party administration from 2017 until his exit, has been a key figure in the government’s economic management team.

Public attention has intensified in recent weeks over the pace of the extradition proceedings, but Frank Davies emphasized that his client “has made himself available through legally permissible means” and is not evading justice.
